Hello

Hi, I’m Lisa Doucette — a seasoned fundraising strategist, agricultural advocate, and community builder with over 20 years of experience in not-for-profit leadership. I specialize in helping organizations, particularly those rooted in rural development, food security, and sustainable agriculture, build meaningful relationships with funders and unlock transformational support.

With a background in both agriculture and business, I bring a rare blend of sector knowledge and strategic insight to my work. I understand the unique challenges facing community-based organizations and the power of storytelling, systems thinking, and values-aligned philanthropy to drive real, lasting change.

I’ve raised millions in support of education, food systems, research, and rural resilience. Whether it’s designing major gift strategies, stewarding donor relationships, or aligning funding priorities with mission, I’m here to help not-for-profits thrive—on purpose, and with purpose.

I am a settler Canadian, committed to reconciliation.

How I Ended Up in Consulting: A Story Rooted in Purpose

I never set out to be a consultant. I set out to make a difference.

For over two decades, I worked inside the not-for-profit world—leading fundraising strategies, building donor relationships, and advocating for causes I believed in, from sustainable agriculture and education to rural development and food security. I loved the work, the people, and the purpose. But over time, I started to see a pattern: organizations with big dreams were often held back by lack of strategy, resources, or support. I found myself doing more than fundraising—I was mentoring teams, refining messaging, building capacity, and asking the deeper questions about sustainability, alignment, and impact.

At the same time, my background in agriculture and business kept pulling me toward systems thinking—how we grow, feed, and care for our communities in a way that’s regenerative and resilient. I began to realize that the work I was most passionate about wasn’t limited to one organization. I wanted to help many.

So I stepped out of the staff role and into my own purpose: to support not-for-profits from the outside in—through consulting, strategy, and heart-centered fundraising guidance.

Now, I partner with mission-driven organizations to build thoughtful, sustainable fundraising strategies rooted in their values. I offer a unique lens that blends deep not-for-profit experience with rural insight, business acumen, and a genuine desire to see people—and communities—thrive.

This work is not just what I do. It’s who I am. And I’m grateful every day to walk alongside those creating change from the ground up.

I would like to acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This land is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship,” first signed in 1725, which established an ongoing relationship between the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik Peoples and the Crown. These treaties recognized the Mi’kmaq’s rights to their land and resources, and they remain living agreements to this day.

I also wish to honour the legacy and contributions of African Nova Scotians, whose communities have been an integral part of the province for over 400 years. These communities have deep roots, resilience, and cultural influence that continue to shape Nova Scotia today. We are all Treaty People, and we are called to live in right relations with one another and with this land.
